About
the Foundation
The
Regional Multicultural Magnet School Foundation was formed in
1998 to provide support for the Regional Multicultural Magnet
School (RMMS), serving southeastern Connecticut. The school is
a voluntary desegregation program located in New London that serves
kindergarten through fifth grade students. The program has a strong
multicultural focus and is based on students having first hand
learning experiences.
The Regional
Multicultural Magnet School Foundation is a not-for-profit organization
that serves the students of the Regional Multicultural Magnet
School but it is a separate entity. As a 501(c)(3) organization,
all donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
All monies raised are given back to the school to support cultural
and educational programs.
The foundation
raises funds through individual donations, matching grants and
fundraising events. We respond to financial needs in the RMMS
community that aren't covered by the school's budget. The process
begins with proposals submitted by an RMMS community member on
behalf of the students. They are reviewed by our Board of Directors
and funded to the extent our annual budget allows.
The Board
of Directors meets the fourth Monday of each month from 5 to 7pm
at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School.
All are welcome to attend.
